I'm officially done with this course but keep
the page going to help those who follow. Perhaps, you
might find something of use here. Enjoy the course and

If your interested in a math glossary then try this link (posted by Katherine Birtles in First Class - I'm trying to give credit where credit is due!).
Graphing Programs
In my quest to find things that make my calculator work with my computer I've been totally frustrated in my lack to get the darn thing to work. So fear not I've found a few utilities that might help you in performing your graphing needs for MU120 in this section. Hope they help!
This is a graph paper program. I got it from the MU120 OUSA conference. It's zipped up
so make sure you have the appropriate program to do the unzipping! Some have found it quite useful I have yet to find time to play with it.
Here's a math graphing program that is freeware. Again got the link from a conference and downloaded the software. Haven't used it yet but I'm sure that will come sometime. It is a zipped up file so make sure you have the appropriate unzipping program to be able to install.
I found quite recently this handy program that is free for the time being. It supposedly will graph a box plot however I've not had the time just yet to mess too much with it but I did get it to graph one for me. Let me know
(e-mail address on index
page) what you think! I found the program at
this
site.
At the same site I also found a handy
scientific calculator for download too!
I also found this site which has a program called NCSS
2001. It's a professional statistical graphing package however they do offer a free trial. I downloaded it (its 18megs!) and within a few minutes I had a box plot ready to insert into my word-processing package. Impressive! Check it out!
Help Section
I had several problems when doing the prep work along with the prep TMA so I went investigating and found some helpful web sites that I saved in .pdf format (you'll need
Adobe Acrobat
Reader). I've posted here a few of them and when I get around to doing more in this format I'll post those too. Hope they help you.

Want some writing tips for the OU? I found this .pdf document on a tutor's web site for T171 last year. It came in handy so I thought I'd post it. Here's yet another
good site for essay help.
Want to know a bit more about the RPI? Try reading this article by the
Telegraph (it's in .pdf). If interested here's the graphic that went along with the article (beware it's 200k!).
Want some help using the Equation Editor in Word97? Go to this tutor's
web
site. He has a number of .pdf files that you might find useful.
Want some extra help for writing TMA's, exams, etc. courtesy of the OU? Try
this
site, link courtesy of Ulrike Hill, OUSA MU120 conference.
Having trouble downloading any of my files? Well you can find them here on my
zip page! Hope that helps. =)
Want help doing your Pythagorean Theorem? Well try this calculator I found on-line. Might be your salvation!
Want some help with Sin, Cos and Tan? Then go here for help. Link courtesy of Jim O'Kane via First Class.
Want some past exam papers for the OU? Then go to this site for the listing of papers along with prices.
Mathematical Fonts
In my travels I found some fonts that help in doing some of the more fancy symbols that are needed when communicating mathematically.
Naturally, my note keeping on just where and when I found these tidbits is a bit lax (well at least I know what is important in note taking!) However, if I'm stepping on someone's toes please let me know
(e-mail address on index
page) and I'll promptly remove the offending font. Otherwise, I'll work on the premise that I found them to be used as freeware. Also please note they are True Type fonts and will only work on a PC. Sorry to other platform users. =(
Also please save them as target or link to your
computer. Just clicking on the link won't work!
You'll then have to go into your Control Panel to install
them. If you don't know how to do this then click on
Help from your Start Menu.

For some math related links check out my bookmark page which has a number of math sites. When I get more time I'll try to do something more proper.
I found this web page about common errors made in math. Thought it was helpful (its not by anyone from the OU) so am including it.
There's an MU120 email list if your interested in joining go
here.
My Notes
This link is my notes so far for MU120. They are in my own format
as well as being in .pdf format.
Would you like to see my audio and
video notes as well - to see what you're missing?
Other handy programs & Documents
Convert is another handy freeware (goodness knows I love anything
free!) program I found that converts metres to centimetres, and everything in between. A very handy tool indeed! I've used it many times for converting my American recipes to metric. Again its zipped up.
Want an AEI document? How about
RPI? How about the
New Earning Survey or the
New Earning Survey for
1999? All of them are in Word97 format so have the appropriate program. Thanks to Paul Regan who posted these to OUSA MU120 Conference.
Want a handy-dandy program that will give you grid lines for Unit 6? Special thanks goes to Stephen Ralphson for allowing me to post his tool. Write him a
quick note to say thanks! We all need praise you know. He's very modest but thanks to him I still have some hair left!

TMA Templates & Directions
If you'd like a TMA template then you can find a MS Word equivalent here. Thanks to Guy for letting me post it here. You can reach him by
clicking here to let him know you find his tool useful.
Would you like a TMA planning
template? I got this a while ago from a T171 conference (sorry to whoever's work this is and I've not given you credit - let me know who you are and I will!). I found it came in quite handy so have kept using it. Might be quite useful come ECA time! It is in Word97 format so you'll need that program. If you need it in .rtf format
Want a template for Unit 6, Activity 5 which I hear through the grapevine we might want to present nicely? Click here for a
Word97 or .rtf
file. Hope it helps. If you want to look at my list of terms
click here its in Word97 format (its not complete but will add to it from time to time).
Would you like a template for TMA 05 for the ECA plan? Well it's here in
Word97 format and here in
.rtf format. My I'm a speedy devil! ;)
Want a template for Unit 6, Activity 50? Click here for the Word97 version and the
.rtf version here.
Want a template for Unit 7, Activity 2? Click here for the Word97 version and the
.rtf version is here. How about for Unit 7, Activity 14? Click here for the
Word97 version and the
.rtf version is here.
Want some of my handbook sheets for Units 8 & 9 in Word97 format? If you need .rtf files email me
(e-mail address on index
page) for them.
Revised: 21 November 2002 - no more revisions will be made.
