Handy Measurement Guide

I've posted here some handy measurement guides for common ingredients that you might come across.  It is by no mean comprehensive but should help when trying to convert between American/British/Metric recipes.  I've rounded up or down as appropriate and each measurement was for a 'dip & sweep' method.

Solids Only

Ingredient US System Imperial Metric
Flour (all-purpose only!) 1 cup 8 ounces 225 grams
Sugar 1 cup 7 ounces 200 grams
Butter 1 cup 8 ounces 225 grams
Light Brown Sugar 1 cup 7 3/4 ounces 215 grams
Dark Brown Sugar 1 cup 8 1/2 ounces 240 grams
Almonds (chopped) 1 cup 3 ounces 85 grams
Cocoa 1 cup 3 1/4 ounces 95 grams
Vegetable Shortening 1 cup 6 3/4 ounces 190 grams
Walnuts or Pecans (chopped) 1 cup 4 ounces 115 grams

Liquids Only
