All About Moi
Like any other person I'll put a small smackeral about me
on this page whether you read it or not. But let's face it, if
you're already here - you must be interested, right? =)
I was born in Rochester,
New York. Here's a picture of me as a baby,
cute huh? I lived there for the first 23 years and then moved
to Tampa,
Florida. Here's a more recent picture of moi.
I now live in England in a small town called Southend
On Sea. I'm about a 1/4 of a mile from the beach and like
to go walking there whenever the weather is nice (you can
guess how often that is!). We have the longest
pleasure pier, which I've only been out to once, because
they charge you to go out there (I'm getting cheap in my old
age!). I'm about an hour train ride from London
which comes in handy. I work at the local
library which came in very handy for TMA time - I at
least get a perk of free stuff. Anyone who knows me, knows my
saying of 'If it's free it's for me!'
I happen to have a purse fetish
(maybe for other things too!). I also love to collect old
cookbooks. Cooking is a
favourite pastime and I finally found a recipe for authentic Belgian
waffles that's the bollocks!
I'm also compiling recipes to hopefully someday put together a
cookbook of my own. Until then maybe this page will satisfy
your curiosity of what I like to cook.
I've put together a sheet of helpful conversions
and tips that might be of help to others since there is a lot
of differences between the UK and America and cooking is no
different. My biggest passion lately (hey they always
change don't they?!) is baking bread. Yes, that time
honoured tradition that once tried, you'll never buy store
bought bread again.
I have a page of things I like to collect
- although as always it's an ongoing project that keeps
evolving so check back often for new finds.
Feel like ranting about something? Well so do I and I put
together a page devoted to my rants du
jour. I'll add to it as and when needed, maybe you'll get
a laugh out of it. What is it with all these French
words? =)
I don't get to watch much TV but I do like watching Channel
4 news. It always delves deeper into the stories (I
think at least). I think the only telly show I consistently
watch is CSI in any form and the new show Criminal Minds. I guess I like the puzzle of
figuring out how they died or what made them do it - strange tidbit about me but true! I still get
my Martha
Stewart fix from my bestest (yes I know it's not a word!)
friend in the whole world,
Vicki or TOV as we call each other
(it means The Other Vicki - get it?).
Musically my tastes varies. I like some classical music but am
finding myself fondling the CD's more and more (what does this
say?). I also like most Pop and Rock selections. I can't stand
hard-core country or heavy metal music (the exception being
some of Limp Bizkit's songs - especially 'It's my way or the
HIGHWAY!). I know, I'm getting
old. Dave
Matthews Band is still a big favourite along with Anastacia,
Texas and Macy
Gray to name a few.
Also I'm a big Winnie-The-Pooh fan. One of my earliest web
pages was devoted exclusively to the bear of little brain.
I have this book by Ann Thwaite and in there is Pooh's
birth certificate. It's a good book (the title is:
The Brilliant Career of Winnie-The-Pooh) and worth a read.
Want to see a picture of an old Tigger doll I found once? Click
here. He now has a home with a friend in Virginia.
I've now gained my BSc in
Technology along with a Diploma in
System Practices and IT - Yippie! I'm still working on a project for my
newest niece - Olivia Catherine. I hope that my book welcoming her to the world will give her
a glimpse into our family and me. I have made a few
altered art tags - the book is in
the same vein somewhat but you get an idea of what I'm
working on. I also now keep a
blog, which means I can post to that much more quickly
and jot my thoughts down before they leave me! I
probably post more to that than this site but I still keep
this one going with my newest acquisitions and recipes.
Well that's about it for the moment. E-mail
me (address is on the index page!) if you don't find the answer to your burning question
here.
Revised: 17 March 2009.
